Ragged dreams and tangled prayers: the online home of Derek Luptak

Hope in Transit
My friends Dave and Lisa Sprinkle. Ridiculously talented and creative people. Their “traveling music school” is an incarnational ministry that brings hope where hope isn’t even remotely hoped for. For a tangible expression of the Kingdom being brought into the real world, look no further.

Joel Bidderman
A very good friend. Insanely talented, as a musician, as a writer and as a teacher. “Ocean Deep” is the video on the front page, and I think its my favorite “worship song” ever.

Third Floor Ministries
Joel’s “vessel of vocation” with which I am officially affiliated (for THIS term at least!)

The Lost Dogs
My favorite band. Go to HERE for a heaping helping of free mp3s.

Daniel Amos
My “other favorite band.” Mr. Buechner’s Dream might be the greatest album you’ve never heard of.

Taize
Someday me, Joel and my pastor/friend/mentor Jon are going to stop there, on the way to Iona.

Iona
Forget the white rabbit, follow the wild goose.

Proost
Loads of great electronica downloads and pdfs. Not free though L

Renovare
I don’t think I can put into words the thankfulness I have for Renovare and the extent to which God has used it to transform me. If you only get one “study bible” get the Renovare Spiritual Formation Bible.

Christian Audio
pay site, but PLENTY of GREAT free audio downloads. And a free book every month.

ZOEcarnate
A MIND-BOGGLING amount of AMAZING counter-cultural Christian links. THE porthole to adventure.

12 weeks of Rob Bell
I never miss a week.

Music At Mars
Worship at Rob Bell’s church. Free live album stream.

The OTHER Mars Hill
Tons of free stuff. Some of the best worship anywhere - downloadable for free. My FAVORITE is the acoustic ensemble. The preacher Mark Driscoll is “Mark the Cussing Pastor” from Blue Like Jazz. Entertaining sermons, but sometimes a little too stodgy and downright weird. But the WORSHIP at least I can recommend without hesitation. Wow.

PHX Suns ESPN message board
Sometimes I post there if I get riled up. I have been a PHX fan since I was 13. This team has broken my heart again and again, but I can’t stop believing that somehow they’re going to find a way to win it all. Nash is also my favorite player. This could be the year, the eternal optimist in me wants to say.

Plough Publishing
FREE e-books that are definite quality. Still somewhat of an enigma to me. I haven’t “ploughed” through much of what’s there but what’s there is enough to keep me coming back for more. For an intro, download “The Prayer God Answers.” If it grips you, keep going. The free Kierkegaard, Muggeridge and Dostoyevski is pretty cool though.

The Longing
I downloaded it. It’s on my MP3 player. I can’t stop listening to it, and not just because my friend Joel helped put it together. Artfully crafted acoustic warmth. Well worth the $9.99. (And includes “Ocean Deep” my previously aforementioned favorite worship song ever.)

The Holy Observer
It’s like “the Onion” for Christians.

Ship Of Fools
It’s like “the Holy Observer” for Brits. Check out the “Biblical Curse Generator” for hours of fun.

The Wittenburg Door
Neither like or unlike the Onion or the Holy Observer. It predates them both. It’s its own thing. And if you get mixed up with any Ole Anthony “teachings” - don’t blame me! Enter at your own risk!

KEEP CHECKING BACK - THIS LIST WILL BE FRUITFUL AND KEEP MULTIPLYING.
